Sure, you have retired from the entertainment world, as much as I was saddened by this news, I do wish the best for you. I do believe you made the right decision by retiring at this stage of your career. You have fans all around the world and both your singing and acting abilities are superb. It's a good idea to retire while you are still at your prime, just like Michael Jordan :) I have to say my favourite song of all time is "Rumor". The first time I heard it was at a barber shop, believe it or not. I was getting my hair cut and all of a sudden I hear this song, and I was like "Wow who sings this?" My barber was your fan too, so he told me all about you, and ever since then, I have been a die-hard fan. Can't believe I haven't met you personally yet, one of the my biggest regrets of my life, I have to say. I also enjoy every single one of your MTVs. I got them all, yeap finally, even that Mandarin DVD of yours. I got a DVD player mostly because I want to see your DVD. I would just sit on my sofa and watch them over and over again. MTVs are better than movies since you will never get tired of them, well at least that's what I think. Since there are so many of your pics on the net, I can spend days just surfing around. I have a pretty big collection of it myself, over 70 Megs to be exact. Well I am running out of stuff to say, but it would be great if I can just meet you and get your autograph personally. |

After reading and thinking about all the things that have been said about Vivian, I too am a fan of all that you represent. I am deeply touched by all the thoughts and emotions that have been expressed at this virtual space and time. After learning of so much love at this site, I feel just like a piece of dried wood that have been swept away by a flood of moonsoon carrying me into the vast ocean of uncertainty. Deep within us is a force stronger than any one person can understand that is constantly crying out for something good and beautiful it has been fortunate for all of us that for a brief moment in our dream-like world we were so close to seeing, hearing, touching, experiencing and above all becoming more aware of such perfection. I have come to known of Vivian's works only within a few years. At first it was just her angelic picturesque beauty that sparked my interest. I browsed through her pictures on the webs(thanks to Janice and loyal fans) and picked a couple to hang on my bedroom wall. Days and weeks and months passed on into years I have been looking at those pictures admiring the perfection of Godly creation. Being a grown up man who is ignorant of any Chinese languages, I never thought of meeting her and seeing her perform live or on any medium. I was just happy with what I saw and what I had. I wasn't even concerned with what her life was like for I didn't read up on her biography. In the past couple of years I slowly began to picking up a a few works of Vivian here and there. In the beginning it was a cd recording that i had no understanding of because everything was in Chinese(as a matter of fact I don't even know exactly where it is now); however I liked some of the upbeat songs for the sad one i guess it's better to know the lyrics. I kept telling myself that one day I will master Chinese and I will understand everything. Eventually as my works in computer get me closer to the Net I became a more frequent visitor to Vivian's web sites. I began to become more interested about her biography, her profiles, her rumors, her translated interviews and songs.... I read what I can get my hands on. Again days ..and weeks and ..months passed into enternity i consumed what I can afford my time and energy.... The songs that touched me the most at first, without even understanding the lyrics, was "Sweet Like honey" or "Tian mi mi". I would just record just that one song over and over into one tape and play it again and again as I drive to work while fighting my way through the hectic Southern California's freeway rush hour traffic. I remember all this song lyric now but I still don't understand its meaning. My world of understanding through words has been expanded to things unexplainable....and I begin to comprehend beauty in unexplainable terms.... In the pass few months I have gotten hold of Vivian's videos and more cds and my appreciation of her works has become deeper even though the things that I am spending time enjoy doing have become more incomprehensible because of my ignorance of Chinese.....I feel like a baby with so many possibility of understanding. Yet one thing I do know for sure is that as my understanding get better my appreciation will also be deeper.... I do understand more and more each passing moment a song that she sang in English by the name of "I've Never Been To Me". This song is also a song that I must press the repeat button on my CD player just to hear it over and over again..... I thought I understand all the meaning at first few times of listening but I have come to realize that deeper understanding can be reached with more thought and experience .... In the pass couple of days I have just found some time to go through most of the entries on this Vivian's fan mails and as begin to finish the last few entries everything about Vivian's beginning to reveal itself to me... It was just like there was a great puzzle in my mind all this time that is a part of a larger puzzle and I am just beginning to see some clues from a few related pieces of the whole. The puzzle that I tried to solve was why Vivian why do you leave us at a moment when all the world are so attached to you? It must have been a most difficult decision to make in your life and the courage and strength required to go through such determination would be immeasurable. I understand and sympathize with you Vivian for all the energy and sacrifice you have been spending on us for all these years trying to entertain and provide us with hope and dream of what we could become... I cannot speak for others but I am always thankful for all the things that you have given us selflessly for some of the most important part of your life that I could never paid you enough no matter however much money I spent.... We fan often see only what on stage that we are paid to see but the world is often cruel and lonesome place for those who must create and care for others.... It's a tough world even for the strongest of human but for a fragile and gentle person it requires strength and wisdom from within his or her higher being. I have no doubt that you have made the right decision to do what you do.... You have given us the public life that we all can treasure for the rest of our life and now you must find the peace and quite that all of us often took for granted.....In our youth we often want fame and fortune but as we grow and become wiser we know that fame and fortune is only a dream that must answer to a deeper dream that runs through our life. A stream of consciousness had merged with the river of fans and now the stream must departed from the river just to enter the ocean of life. I must admit I have written too much but after reading so many beautiful emails here I felt so compel to add my thought and feelings that I too share with others. Thanks Vivian for everything..... the world owes you more than you ever know....Thanks Janice and Vivian's fans for all your thought and support I too have reaped the treasure of your thoughts and energy.... |
