Joe Ngai hates Leon Lai because of "Lee"

Joe isn't scared of making Sheila Chan unhappy, frankly saying he hates Leon Lai.

The entertainment channel on I-cable has a new talk show "Saturday Ladies' Night," which is hosted by Teresa Mo Shun Kwan, Sheila Chan Suk Lan, and Jo Kuk Cho Lam. Earlier, they invited Joe Ngai as a guest on their show and they talked about what's beneath their hearts with Joe. The topics included his viewpoint on women and about his girlfriend Vivian.

Joe said most men don't think it's important whether a woman is intelligent or not, because the first thing men think about is a woman's appearance. Joe likes a girlfriend who is intelligent and has the traditional Chinese female gentleness. Joe said, "I admire my girlfriend the most for making my life very comfortable. My personality is very strange, but she's able to accept my strangeness. Also, she's able to give me space, which makes me more mature. We've gone through a lot together. Even when we had separated, the loving care we had for each other didn't change; every time she had a clogged toilet at home, her Filipino maid would call me, and later I became known as the 'plumber.'

The female hosts of the show felt that many men are very jealous of Joe, because all his girlfriends are beautiful women. Joe didn't agree and even thought, "There's a group of men who listened to my past radio program when they were young and felt that I was their love teacher. As for the men who hate me, it's because they fought with me over a girlfriend. There's absolutely direct contact with opponents when competing in the realm of love. There was a time when I hated Stephen Chow Sing Chi and Anthony Wong Chau Sang. We were all the same 'group of men,' plus they were very active back then, so it made me admire them and be jealous of them." At that moment, Joe looked at Sheila Chan Suk Lan (who's a big Leon Lai fan) and laughed saying, "I also really hate Leon Lai Ming, because he fought with me over 'nei' (Cantonese word meaning 'you'..some people pronounce 'you' in Cantonese as 'lei')!" When Sheila heard this, she immediately laughed loudly, but Joe immediately added, "I didn't say 'nei' (you). It's 'Lee,' as in a last name." It seems Joe has a reason for hating Leon Lai, because Michelle Lee Ka Yan used to be Joe's girlfriend, and there was also rumors of Michelle and Leon being together later.

The three hosts of the show asked Joe what he thought about 'not being confused at age 40.' Joe felt a 40 year old man has no charm at all. Also, Joe isn't very anxious about money as long as there's enough. Some 40 year old men would have feelings for 20 year old girls. Joe agrees that they hope these young girls would make them feel young again. During his relationship of more than 10 years, he wouldn't dare say that he's never crossed the line, but he always follows the principle of ("sending the sentiment to stop the ritual" ???...not sure how to translate this phrase... this is what the traslator says) At least he hasn't gotten caught yet.

Tonight, the new show "Saturday Ladies' Night" will premiere on I-cable's entertainment channel. Joe was the guest on the show, with the hosts Teresa Mo Shun Kwan, Sheila Chan Suk Lan, and Jo Kuk Cho Lam. They asked Joe how he won Vivian's heart. He said it's because he was handsome enough, and slowly Vivian could feel his sincerity. Both of them have experienced a lot of things together. They fell in love, then separated, and then got back together again and lived together overseas. During the time that they were apart, both of them were dating another person, but they would still show loving care for each other. Even when Vivian had a clogged toilet at home, her Filipino maid would call Joe to be the plumber.

Girlfriend accepts his strange personality
Joe said he likes a girlfriend who is intelligent and has the traditional Chinese female gentleness. He admires Vivian the most for making his life very comfortable. He said his personality is very strange and she's able to accept his strangeness. Vivian is even able to give him space, which makes him more mature.

Laughs saying he hates Leon Lai for fighting with him over "Lee"
The hosts mentioned Joe's past girlfriends were all beautiful women. Joe laughed saying many men were jealous of him and hate him. Joe especially hates men who fight with him over a girlfriend. Joe laughed as he told Sheila Chan Suk Lan, "I also hate Leon Lai, because he fought with me over 'you'..." When Sheila laughed, Joe added that he said the last name of 'Lee' and not 'you.' (Lee is referring to Michelle Lee Ka Yan) During Joe's relationship of more than 10 years, he wouldn't dare say that he's never crossed the line, but he would ("send the sentiment to stop the ritual" ???....not sure how to translate this phrase... this is what the traslator says) . At least he hasn't gotten caught yet.

The level of importance in other factors is different for each man, depending on their personality.

Of course there would be mismatches between the two people's personalities, so it takes time to resolve these problems. I admire my girlfriend the most for making my life very comfortable. My personality is very strange, but she's able to accept my strangeness, plus she's able to give me space, which lets me grow up and makes me more mature."

Also in attendance were Uncle Jim's school friends, teachers, friends from the entertainment circle, medical and political fields, and other friends from different fields. Oriental Daily newspaper:
Joe and Vivian arrived the earliest at the stadium yesterday to help with the memorial. They arrived at 11:45AM, which was even earlier than most of the staff members. Because they arrived so early, the staff members didn't have time yet to give security at the venue the names of the people who were allowed to park their car in the parking lot. Joe didn't have a parking permit and was refused entrance to the venue by security. He had to wait outside the venue for 15-20 minutes before he was allowed to enter.

Apple Daily newspaper (article 1) :
Joe blocked from entering
Organizers of the memorial arranged for 30 security guards to be at the event, plus the security guards already at the stadium, the staff members and the police, for a total of at least 100 people there to maintain order at the event. At around 11:00AM, Joe, who took part in making preparations for the memorial, and his girlfriend arrived at the stadium to help. But at that time, Joe didn't have a worker ID, so the security guard refused to let him into the venue. In the end, they finally could enter the venue.

She even praised Dr. Leung Chi Hung for urging people to quit smoking. This is a positive message. Everyone should cherish their life.

MingPao Daily newspaper (article 1) :
The entertainment industry mourned for the "Devilish Genious" James Wong Jim yesterday (12/5) at a large-scale memorial ceremony at the HK Stadium. It was difficult for them to hide their sorrow, with tears in their eyes as they bid James farewell.

During the memorial ceremony, Brigitte Lam Ching Ha, Bak Wan Kam, Kenny Bee, Vivian Chow, Nat Chan, Law Ka Ying, Clifton Ko Chi Sum and others would often pick up a tissue to wipe away their tears, which made the atmosphere fill with sadness.

MingPao Daily newspaper (article 2) :
Yesterday, Joe represented James Wong's family to attend the memorial. His girlfriend Vivian was responsible for reading a summary of James Wong's biography. When they were leaving, Joe drove the car to pick up his girlfriend Vivian, who looked very sad.

Easy for Leo Ku to become friends with females; friendship lasts longer than a love relationship;
Leo makes friends with 3 beautiful women in the entertainment circle
(abridged version of actual article)

Leo gets along with women quite well. He has 3 beautiful female friends, which makes people feel jealous of him. These 3 women are Gigi Fu Ming Hin, Karen Mok Man Wai, and Vivian Chow. Vivian is nonchalant with character. (Picture on file)

"It's extremely good to have one true friend in your life!" Leo Ku has 3 good female friends. Leo is good friends with Gigi Fu Ming Hin, Vivian Chow, and Karen Mok Man Wai, but he's never had rumors about him and them being together. Since there's many female friends by Leo's side, how come he didn't try to pursue them? Leo was firm saying, "Being friends is for a lifetime. This would never change!"

Friendship section : it's good enough just to know female friends
Leo has been in the entertainment business for more than 10 years. Most of the news about him is regarding his work. How about his love relationships? He's only been asked constantly about whether his assistant and him have a love relationship or not. During this year, Leo still had ways of avoiding this question. But he has a subtle relationship with 3 women in the entertainment circle, and they are Gigi Fu, Vivian, and Karen Mok.

Vivian -- became closer friends after playing pool
Leo said, "I met Vivian when we were acting in 'Justice Bao' (Bao Ching Tin ... TV series). We often had to go to other locations to shoot scenes, and since we were both in an unfamiliar place, it was natural to have a close feeling. Later we discovered that both of us like playing American pool, and that's how we became closer friends. But I really admire her the most for pursuing a lifestyle that she likes and loves, nonchalantly walking on her own path of choice. She looks weak on the outside, but she's very strong inside. I also really admire her for knowing how to paint. People who paint/draw are certainly very good people..ha ha."

Leo also said, "Vivian is very enthusiastic about things that happen to me. She often asks me how I'm doing at work. Actually, there was a person at my company who had suggested for me to ask Vivian if she could sing 'Love and Honesty' with me, but I didn't even have to open my mouth to know the answer. One time she and Joe told me that they really like this song. Later, I tried to ask her if she could help me, and she agreed right away. I really thank her a lot."

Leo feels that it's not difficult to make friends in the entertainment circle, but it takes a long time. He said, "I use lots of time to observe when making friends. A true friend is someone you can talk to about your personal problems and they can talk about their problems with you. Someone asked me why I didn't think about being a lover with any of the 3 ladies since I think they're beautiful and have a kind heart. Do I really have to date? I have no doubts about our friendship. If we're not each other's cup of tea, then we're not. There are some things that are determined by fate. Being friends is for a lifetime. This would never change. It's good enough that we're happy now."

Joe remembers Uncle Jim...
(abridged version of actual articles)

Joe is James's nephew. This picture of Joe (left), James (top right), Michelle Lee Ka Yan (bottom right), and Lam Yin Nei (top left) has become a memory. (Picture on file from Apple Daily)

Apple Daily newspaper:
Joe remembered Uncle Jim who was his teacher and friend
On Joe's radio program last night, he talked about the past events he had with James Wong. Joe said, "I was very close with Uncle Jim. He was like a father, and also my teacher and friend. He was one of the very important people in my life. He was really genuine. I talked with my dad (Ngai Hong) today on the phone. Both of us cherish the memory of him being so genuine."

Supporting each other
This time when Uncle Jim passed away, it made Joe cherish the people by his side even more. He said, "Yesterday before I came to the radio station, I received this bad news while I was in the car. Although I didn't know if the news was true or not, but I still felt like something was wrong. I already cried one round. After I got back home, I discovered that the person by my side is very important, as ah V (Vivian's nickname) and I would support each other during this time. I hope everyone continues to show the spirit of James."

MingPao Daily newspaper:
Joe painfully cries; Vivian is there to support him
His relationship with James was like a father and son
Joe was familiar with James at an early age because of the relations with James and his father Ngai Hong. Joe treated this elder with lots of respect and love. When Joe heard the sad news about Uncle Jim passing away, he cried. Fortunately, he has his girlfriend Vivian to accompany him, and both supported each other and are together at this grieving moment. Joe hopes to continue Uncle Jim's happy spirit.

Drizzle looked like the sky was crying
After Joe finished working on his radio program last night, he heard the news about James passing away. While he was driving home, there was drizzle and light rain, which looked like the sky was crying. It was a miserable feeling. At that moment, Joe felt it was a moment for lovers to support each other. He's fortunate to have Vivian by his side for support. Joe said he knew James liked to hide when recuperating from his illness, so that's why when Joe wanted to meet with James before, James didn't come out, which made Joe and Vivian worried for some time. Who would have thought there would really be sad news.

James Wong Jim passed away...
(abridged version of actual articles)

Two nights ago, Joe looked pale while driving away from the radio station and looked very sad. (Picture from The Sun)

Oriental Daily newspaper:
Uncle Jim left, Joe felt heavy grief
James Wong Jim (Uncle Jim) passed away from lung cancer on November 24th. James loved Joe Ngai and Mark Lui Jung Tak like his sons. Both were extremely sad about James passing away. James had seen them growing up since they were very young. Both of them were deeply influenced by James and extremely respected him. Joe even loved James more than his own father, Ngai Hong. You can see this is such a big impact to Joe.

Joe has red eyes and says he doesn't have anything to say
Ever since Joe was young, he has always highly respected James and loved him very much. Joe and James had lots of common topics to talk about, and because of his relationship with James, Joe's girlfriend Vivian Chow is also very familiar with James. Joe and Vivian would often see Uncle Jim and have dinner with him. Last night around midnight, there was news spreading about James being critically ill. Joe felt heavy grief as he went to the radio station as usual to host his radio program. After he finished his radio program and left around 2AM, it's believed he already found out about Uncle Jim passing away. The reporters could only see Joe wearing his sunglasses, possibly to cover his very red eyes. He had a grieving face and said, "I don't have anything to say." Then he drove away quickly.

James Wong was still like a child at heart. As soon as he sees his niece, jade girl master Vivian Chow, he closely stood next to her and didn't forget to tell the media, "I'm on a date with Vivian, and you guys were actually able to take pictures of us." (James called Joe's father Ngai Hong as his 'big brother,' so James referred to Joe as his nephew and Vivian as his niece). (Picture on file from The Sun)
